Meet Nevada Real Estate License Requirements & Pass the State Exam with ProSchools

Nevada State Real Estate License Requirements

To obtain a new real estate license in Nevada, you need to:

  1. Complete the education requirements. You must complete a 90-hour, state-approved prelicense course in real estate principles, practices, and law, within the five years prior to applying for the license exam. ProSchools’ program includes interesting reading assignments and frequent practice quizzes to prepare you to pass the state license exam.
  2. Complete a background check. Submit to the Real Estate Division two sets of fingerprints and a processing fee.
  3. Pass a national and a Nevada state exam with a score of 75% or better within 12 months from time of application. The exam consists of 80 national and 40 state-specific questions. When you complete ProSchools’ program, you’ll have over a 95% chance of passing.
  4. Be at least 18 years old.
  5. Complete a notarized license application and submit with the following items:
  • Fingerprint cards with background check fee made payable to the Nevada Highway Patrol in the amount of $45
  • Original examination results
  • Real estate education course certificates
  • Original license application fee of $125

If you have additional questions about licensing, we recommend you call the Nevada Real Estate Division at (702) 486-4033 or e-mail realest@red.state.nv.us.

If you are a salesperson licensed in another state, you need to:

  1. Complete the education requirements. You must have completed 45 hours of real estate principles and 45 hours of real estate law, including 18 hours of Nevada law. Every applicant must take Nevada real estate law from a Commission approved school. ProSchools’ program includes interesting reading assignments and frequent practice quizzes to prepare you to pass the state license exam.
  2. Complete a background check. Submit to the Real Estate Division two sets of fingerprints and a processing fee.
  3. Obtain a license history or letter of good standing from the Real Estate Commission of the state in which you were licensed. Licensing history must be an original document.
  4. Show proof of passing the national and Nevada state exam within one year of the application date. Applicants may use their national examination results from another state if dated within one year of the date of application but must show proof of those results.
  5. Complete a license application and submit with the following items:
  • Fingerprint cards with background check fee made payable to the Nevada Highway Patrol in the amount of $45
  • Original examination results
  • Real estate education course certificates
  • Original license application fee of $145

Nevada real estate license applicants must pass a computerized license examination administered by PSI, a national testing firm. To schedule an exam, you can call them toll-free at (800) 733-9267 or visit www.psiexams.com. You are encouraged to reserve your exam date at least three to four business days prior.
To schedule an exam, PSI will require the following:

  1. Personal information - legal name, address, phone, SSN, date of birth, and birth place
  2. Exam specifics - exam type, preferred date and test center location
  3. Failing score report (if retaking an exam)
  4. School Code, located in the Real Estate Salesperson and Broker Candidate Information Bulletin, and type of schooling.
  5. Exam fees paid in full

For more information, read PSI ’s complete State of Nevada Real Estate Salesperson and Broker Candidate Information Bulletin, which includes details of all licensing requirements, exam reservation guidelines, and a list of all PSI test center locations and hours of operation.

Upon arriving at the test center, you’ll need to show two forms of identification with at least one being a valid form of government issued identification which bears your signature and photograph to the test administrator. Then a brief online tutorial will familiarize you with the computerized testing system before you answer 120 multiple-choice questions (80 national and 40 state-specific).

You will have three hours to complete the exam. Be sure to attempt to answer every question. A minimum score of 75% is required to pass the real estate exam. Your score will be available immediately. A passing score is valid for one year.
