Arizona Real Estate License Renewal & Continuing Education: Frequently Asked Questions

How do the continuing education courses work?
You will be completing reading assignments, listening to multimedia reviews, and taking quizzes online. After passing your final exam (70% or better), you will automatically receive your certificate of completion. No more than 9 hours may be completed in a 24-hour period.

What does it cost to renew my license?
The fee for license renewal is $60 for a salesperson's license, and $125 for a broker’s.

How do I know when my license expires?
If you are licensed on active status (employed by a broker), your license expiration date is printed on your license certificate that was sent to your broker. If your license is on inactive status, you were issued a postcard that indicated your license number and expiration date. You may also check your license status and expiration date at any time on the ADRE's Directory of Licensees.

If the end of my renewal month falls on a weekend or holiday, when must I file my application to avoid a lapse in licensure?
If the last day of your license period falls on a weekend or holiday, it will be considered a timely renewal if it is (1) postmarked by the last day of the month and year in which it's due or (2) if it is received the first business day following the weekend or holiday.

What if I am unable to complete my continuing education credits on time? If, despite your best efforts and intentions, you have been unable to complete classes to meet your CE requirement, you may request a waiver and submit it to ADRE for review. If approved, you will be granted additional time to complete your CE hours (you must still file the renewal application and fees when due to remain licensed).

What is the change in Legal Presence Reporting?
The 2008 Legislature enacted a new section of law, ARS §41-1080, which requires licensing agencies, including the Department of Real Estate (ADRE), to obtain proof of the license applicant’s legal presence in the United States prior to issuing (or renewing) a license. Effective October 1, 2008, ADRE is permitted to renew your license only after we proof of your legal presence in this country in received.

What is the process for completing the submission of proof of legal presence in the US?
Visit the ADRE's website to view what documents are acceptable proof and how to provide them to the Department.
